Dr Weiping Shi (East China Normal University) and Dr Hong Lu (Chongqing College of Electronic Engineering) will visit IER week commencing 19 March to participate in a series of meetings and presentations in the area of vocational education and training.

Dr Weiping Shi is Professor and Director of Institute of Vocational and Adult Education, East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. He is also Vice-President of China Society of Vocational and Technical Education (CSVET) and Chairman of Academic Committee of CSVET. His research areas cover international comparison of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems, national and regional policy for TVET development and innovation, training and youth employment, modern apprenticeship, vocational curriculum development, TVET teacher education and professional development.

Dr Hong Lu, professor of vocational education, associate professor of TESOL, director of International Cooperation & Vocational Education Researches Department in Chongqing College of Electronic Engineering (CQCEE), contract director of vocational education evaluation in Chongqing Education Evaluation Institute (CQEEI), member of Asian Academic Society for Vocational Education and Training (ASSVET), contract research fellow for the International Department of Chinese Academic Society for VET.  Recently, she has been in engaged in research on vocational education quality assurance (Australian and British system in particular), vocational education policy and systems, comparative vocational education, vocational education curriculum and delivery and vocational career education.
