Welcome to Warwick Celebrates!
Schedule of Activity for Graduations taking place in the morning

On Arrival - Ticket and Robe collection
On arrival, head to the Studio Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre for ticket and robe collection (access for graduands only).
Here, graduands will collect:
- Their graduand ticket. Please keep this with you at all times. This has your seat number for the ceremony
- Guest tickets, including any extra tickets you have paid for. These should be passed to guests as graduands and guests will be entering through different doors
Once robed, you should also:
- Check that you are wearing the correct hood Link opens in a new window.

Store any luggage/coats in the Arts Centre cloakroom (subject to capacity)

Before the Ceremony - What to do
- Read through the following information, and keep an eye on the time - graduands and guests must be seated by 10.30am
- Find out about the benefits and opportunities available to you as a Warwick graduate by visiting our alumni stand in the Arts Centre foyer or Piazza
- Have your pre-booked professional photos (Ede and Ravenscroft) taken in the Mead Gallery, Warwick Arts Centre
- Visit our graduation shop outside the Mead Gallery, Warwick Arts Centre
- Go to the bathroom! Once you're seated in the Butterworth Hall, you cannot leave until our final seating checks are complete
- Share the link to the live stream with friends and family

From 9.30am
- Guests with Butterworth Hall tickets should make their way to the ground floor Butterworth Hall doors and guests with Cinema tickets upstairs to Cinema 1
- Guests with pre-booked accessible seating have seats reserved for them in the Hall and do not need to queue
- Graduands should get ready to enter the Butterworth Hall. Graduands enter via Door 1 on the first floor of Warwick Arts Centre from approx. 9.45am. Graduands with accessibility requirements should enter via the ground floor Butterworth Hall doors. The porters on the door will be able to assist you
- Graduands should find and take the designated seat. Graduand seats will have a card with your name on it
- Guests will be directed to a seat by Warwick Arts Centre stewards. Please take your seats promptly and do not leave any gaps

Doors to Ceremony close 10.30am
Once in the Butterworth Hall:
- From 10.30-11am, graduands should ensure they are sat in their allocated seats. This is when we will be doing our final seating checks. It is very important that you are sat in your allocated seat. If you move seats, your name will be crossed off and you will not be allowed to cross the stage.
- Please put your mobile phone on silent, but keep it on to take photos
- Staff will indicate when it is time for graduands to stand to cross the stage. After crossing the stage and collecting your certificate you will return to the same seat

Alumni Speaker | Colin Grahamslaw

Colin Grahamslaw - has worked for Scottish Fencing (1994-1999), Scottish Hockey (1999-2004), Royal Caledonian Curling Club (2004-2010). He then joined World Curling as Secretary General in 2010 and was appointed Secretary General of WOF (Winter Olympic Federations) in 2023 in addition to the role at World Curling.
He started in sport working as the Sabbatical Sports Officer for The University of Warwick (1991-92) and was elected as the Student Vice Chair of British University Sports Federation (1991-92). He has served as an elected representative on various student bodies within the UK between 1991-1995. He was also part of the team management for Team GB at the World Student Games 1993, as well a past team manager for the Scottish Fencing team, British Student Fencing team, and Scottish Universities Cricket teams.

Alumni Speaker | Eve Wagg

Eve Wagg graduated from University of Warwick in 2005 and for the next decade worked for a range of charities all supporting children and adults across the UK. In January 2016 she decided to pursue her dream and launch Well Grounded, connecting her love of coffee with her passion for social impact. Headquartered in London, with Academies now also in Bristol and Leeds, Well Grounded’s vision is a UK free from unemployment, where everyone has the opportunity to build a fulfilling career. Well Grounded’s unique mission is to support the UK coffee industry to lead the way in creating inclusive and progressive career opportunities for individuals facing barriers to work. Eve is passionate about social innovation and enterprise as a way of challenging social issues. She regularly speaks at social enterprise events, is a Fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, a Shackleton Leader, an UnltdAlumni and a Beyond Business Award winner. Eve has a Masters in Voluntary Sector Management from the Centre for Charity Effectiveness at Bayes Business School, and is an advisor and mentor to other charities and social enterprises. Eve is also passionate about female leadership and was recently named in the top 5 female Social Entrepreneurs by NatWest. In 2022 Eve was named Woman of the Year at the renowned Woman of the Year awards. She has featured in the Independent, Evening Standard and a range of national and local press.

The Warwick Awards for Personal Tutoring Excellence (WAPTE) recognise staff who have made an outstanding contribution to the support of students through the University's personal tutoring system.
Nominations come from both students and staff in the Warwick community, reflecting the continued commitment to personal tutoring across the University and the important impact this has on the student experience.
Jodie’s personal tutoring philosophy is simple: be yourself, be authentic and be honest. She sees her role as one of compassionate support, helping students academically and pastorally, and encouraging them to successfully navigate the wealth of resources at the University.

Honorary Graduate | Talan Skeels-Piggins

Talan Skeels-Piggins Captained the 1st XI Hockey to County Champions. Played for Truro 1st XI Hockey team and represented Cornwall U18 Hockey. He won the U18 Cornwall Windsurfing Championship and was a Windsurfing Instructor in his holidays.After leaving school (and having a gap year sailing and working) he joined the Royal Navy as a Midshipman in Jan 1991. During his time he served on both surface ships and submarines. As a Lieutenant, he finished his career as the Fighter Controller onboard HMS YORK, part of the 3rd Destroyer Squadron. He travelled from the Arctic Circle to the Falklands, from the Caribbean toSingapore, and included deployments to the Gulf. Whilst in the RN he wasusually the Sports Officer onboard and represented ships in Rugby, Tennis,Basketball, Sailing. He was also selected for the RN Ski Team having finishedfourth overall in the 1995 RN ski championships (his first ever ski race - beating over half of the established RN ski team). Leaving the RN in 1996 he travelled around Australia before returning to the UK and training at Chichester University (1998 - 2002) to become a PEteacher. At Uni he representedthe university in Rugby, Football and Hockey.After graduating he joined St Laurence School as a PE teacher in September2002. He was paralysed in March 2003.In Nov 2002 Talan had joined the Royal Navy Reserves as a Lieutenant, based at HMS FLYING FOX in Bristol. He continued to serve until 2010 when commitments to the GB Para-Alpine ski team became too much.

Payal is a Managing Director at JCURV, an award-winning management consultancy company whose mission is to increase the agility of organisations. Payal is currently working with leaders across the industry including Cola Cola, Belron, and Sainsbury's. Previous to this, Payal has held several executive roles in the Banking and Finance industry for the last 20 years including Existing Customer Management and Loans Director at Vanquis Bank and Managing Director of Strategic Analytics at Barclays. Payal is also a Non-Exec Director for three FinTech’s across Europe. Payal is the Chair of Women in Data®, whose mission is gender parity in all data and AI roles, especially at a senior level. In 2016, Payal was recognised as the most influential data professional in the DataIQ Top 100 leaders in the UK. In 2019, Payal was recognised in the HERoes Top 100 Women Executives in the UK and highly commended in the category of Digital and Technology in the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.

Jeffrey is passionate about brands and their ability to deliver significant returns.

Honorary Graduate | Tracy Chevalier

Tracy Chevalier is an American-British historical novelist who has written eight novels. Her second book, Girl With a Pearl Earring, won her the Barnes & Noble Discover Award and was adapted in 2003 into an Academy Award-nominated film. She served as Chair of the Management Committee from 2004 to 2008, and was a member and later Chair of the Advisory Board for UK Public Lending Right. She is currently a Trustee for the British Library and was the President of the Royal Literary Fund from 2016 to 2018.

He's hosted press conferences (such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Guardians OfThe Galaxy), as well as the likes of Star Wars Celebration, the BBC Proms and, um, his own highly geeky big screen quiz, "Ali Plumb's Untitled Film Quiz Project". You should go one time, it's fun.

The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATEs) are a well-loved monument to the successful educators within the Warwick teaching community.
The Faculty Awards recognise that much of what makes teaching, learning and assessment excellence flows from a deep understanding of and commitment to our distinctive disciplinary contexts. To celebrate the strength, belonging, and learning that come from solid educational communities WATE introduced two new awards: the Collaborative Award in 2021, and the Community & Culture award in 2022. Both recognise the importance of working together and the power of the social to create the conditions in which all students are empowered to succeed and thrive.
The Award for Postgraduates who Teach celebrate colleagues who contribute so much to the student learning experience and our academic community through their work as Graduate Teaching Assistants.
Arthur is driven by a strong desire to share the powerful toolset that economics offers for understanding the world. His foremost goal is to inspire and motivate his students to think critically, creatively and logically. He prioritizes clarity and accessibility in his teaching, exploring innovative methods, such as games, experiments and coding, to makes learning both enjoyable and meaningful. He believes that every student possesses the potential to succeed, and he is committed to empowering them to become confident, independent learners capable of taking on any challenge they encounter.

Honorary Graduate | Professor Ekaterina Zhuravskaya

Ekaterina Zhuravskaya is a Professor of Economics at the Paris School of Economics and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, as well as a coeditor of the American Economic Review. She is also a Research Fellow at CEPR, affiliated with its Political Economy and Development Economics programs. Zhuravskaya earned her PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1999 and has since held various academic and advisory positions. Her work has significantly advanced the understanding of how political institutions, media, and economic policies shape societies. Her research spans topics such as the political effects of media and, more recently, social media, the origins of ethnic conflict, historical economic development, corruption, and decentralization. Throughout her career, she has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Birgit Grodahl Award, the CNRS Silver Medal, the Gamow Award, a fellowship with the Econometric Society, and foreign honorary membership in the American Economic Association.

Justin Onuekwusi joined St. James’s Place in October 2023. With more than 20 years’ experience in the investment management industry, Justin leads the development of St. James’s Place’s investment proposition, asset allocation approach and selection of external fund managers. Justin is also chair of the Investment Committee covering the full range of funds at SJP and has responsibility for investment oversight of the discretionary fund management part of the SJP business. He was Highly Commended for Investor of the Year at the 2025 City AM Awards and was recognised as one of the 30 most influential leaders in Europe in Wealth Management in 2024. In addition, in 2025, Justin made the inaugural Investment Week Leaders List which recognises investment leaders who make an impact at their own firm and across the asset management industry. Prior to joining SJP, Justin was Head of Retail Investments, EMEA and Head of Retail Multi-Asset Funds at Legal & General Investment Management. He also held positions at Aviva Investors, Merrill Lynch/Bank of America and Aon Consulting. Outside his role at SJP, Justin has also shown leadership throughout the industry championing Inclusion receiving various accolades and recognition. Externally, Justin sits on the Race Leadership Team at Business in the Community (BITC) and is a panel member of the Premier League’s Equity Diversity and Inclusion Standard (PLEDIS). Justin has won several awards for his work within driving societal change including the 2020 Portfolio Adviser Wealth Management award for Outstanding Contribution to Inclusivity and the 2021 Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion. Justin founded EnCircle which is a monthly mentoring circle initiative and the Black Leaders Programme in conjunction with the Investment Association and Diversity Project. In addition, in 2020 Justin was awarded the honour of the Freedom of the City of London. In 2024, Justin was listed on the Powerlist Top 10, recognising the UK's most powerful people of African, African Caribbean and African American heritage.

Alumni Speaker | Vivienne Hayes OBE

Vivienne Hayes OBE is the Chief Executive of the Women’s Resource Centre (WRC). With over 30 years in the women’s sector, both delivering services and leading organisations, her passion is working towards substantive equality for all women. She has been key to the UK government’s examination of CEDAW at the UN on their progress in achieving all women’s rights. Vivienne was awarded the National Diversity Award 2013 for Gender Role Model and WRC won the Third Sector 2014 award for Britain’s Most Admired Charity. She continues to support building the collective voice of women and women’s organisations as the critical vehicle for social change and achieving women's rights.

Andrew Harvey is a Global Commercial Director at Pfizer, focusing on vaccines. He's held numerous roles across sales and marketing during his 20+ year career before focusing on the area of disease prevention – an area he feels particularly passionate about. Born in Dorset, he studied Biochemistry at Warwick in the 90s before moving into industry. He lives in the south of England with his wife and family – with whom he loves to indulge his other passions of travelling and nature walks.

Alumni Speaker | Dr Claire Guest OBE

Dr Claire Guest OBE obtained a BSc in Psychology in 1986, followed by an MSc in Psychology by research. She is a member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors and was Director of Operations & Research at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. In 2004 Claire directed one of the first studies in the world to train dogs to identify bladder cancer by odour publishing a robust proof of principle in the British Medical Journal. In 2008 Claire became Co-Founder of Medical Detection Dogs (MDD), a charity that trains both Bio Detection and Medical Alert Assistance Dogs and is the Chief Executive and Chief Scientific Officer. Claire headed up a project which was one of the first in the world, to prove that dogs can detect the odour of Covid-19 during the pandemic. She is also spearheading world-leading, innovative projects investigating the potential for dogs to sniff conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, prostate cancer, bowel cancer, malaria, and bacterial infections. Claire and her team have trained and placed over 200 assistance dogs which save the lives of their clients daily, including the first dogs trained to alert to oncoming hypo-glycaemic episodes, oncoming PoTS episodes and the first nut allergy dog.
In 2011 Claire was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of new approaches for the detection of life-threatening diseases. In January 2015 she was awarded a British Citizen Award for health and in 2016 received the CBI National First Women award for Science and Technology. In 2023 Claire was awarded an OBE for Services to Medical Knowledge, Public Health and Wellbeing. Claire is Chair of the Trustee Board for The David Riddell CIO which focuses on mental health and suicide awareness, is a Trustee of Assistance Dogs UK and a Board member for Assistance Dogs Europe.
