This article, co-authored by IER’s Dr Jeisson Cardenas-Rubio, analyses the impact of the First Metro Line's announcement on housing prices in Bogotá, Colombia. It combines innovative databases, web scraping and Google Maps with administrative records—such as the Bogotá Urban Development Institute (IDU) databases—to assess how the announcement of the metro construction impacts on the rental or sales market prices for the houses surrounding the infrastructure projects.

Professor Joe Sakshaug recently published a commissioned paper for the US Health and Retirement Study (HRS) and the US National Institute on Aging.

The paper proposes several methodological approaches and lays out a set of recommendations for reducing nonresponse and data linkage biases in panel surveys, with a particular focus on the HRS.

IER Associate Fellow Dr Mary McMahon will be facilitating a workshop as part of an Institute of Advanced Studies Fellowship with the IER and in conjunction with the Career Studies Unit. The workshop will take place on Wednesday 12th June 2013, 1pm -4pm. It will focus on systems theory, career development learning and constructivist approaches to career counselling. The 100^th IER Bulletin summarises the findings of Working Futures 2010-2020, the fourth in a series of labour market assessments that provide detailed projections for the UK labour market. It focuses on a ten year horizon, giving a picture of the labour market for 2020; including employment prospects for industries, occupations, qualification levels, gender and employment status for the UK and for nations and English regions. The core purpose of Working Futures is to inform policy development and strategy around skills, careers and employment.
